: Setting Up Outlook to use Acuity E-mail (WinXP)

What would you like to do?

Set Up New Account

  1. Begin by opening Outlook 2002.
  2. Click the "Tools" menu at the top and you will get a drop-down window.
  3. Click on the "E-mail Accounts" option and a new window will pop-up.
  4. Select the "Add a new e-mail account" option.
  5. Click the "Next" button.
  6. Select the "POP3" option.
  7. Click the "Next" button.
  8. Fill in the boxes with the user information.
    • The "Your Name" box is for the name you want to show up on your email (it can be anything you want.)
    • For E-mail Address enter your full email address (example: name@mycompany.com)
  9. Provide server information. Your mail server address will be mail.ispname.com (or .net) depending upon your ISP.(For example, if you were myname@mycompany.com then your mail server would be mail.mycompany.com for both the incoming and outgoing mail server.)
  10. Provide Log In Information
    • Your "User Name" would be the part of your email address that comes before the '@' (for example if your email address was myname@mycompany.com your logon name would be myname.)
    • Enter your password into the "Password" box.
    • Put a check in the "Remember" password box.
  11. Click on the "More Settings..." button in the lower right corner after you've filled in the boxes.
  12. Enter your E-mail address in the top box.
  13. "Organization" can be left blank.
  14. Enter your email address in the "Reply E-mail" box.
  15. Click the "Outgoing Server" tab.
  16. Put a check in "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication".
  17. Select the option marked "Use same settings as my incoming mail server".
  18. Click the "Connection" tab.
  19. Select your connection method: If you are on a network, select "Connect using my local area network (LAN)". If you use dial-up - select the "Connect using my phone line" option.
  20. If you select the Phone-Line option, make sure that the bottom box under "Modem" has your current ISP's connection. (If not, click the little arrow at the far right of that box to choose your ISP's connection.)
  21. Click "OK."
  22. Click the "Test Account Settings..." button.
  23. Outlook 2002 will check to see if it can connect to your ISP. It will also check to see if your settings can actually reach your ISP's mail server and logon. Lastly, it will send a test message to see if everything is working.

If any "Tasks" don't get a green checkmark then write them down. Double check all your settings and try the test a second time. if the test still fails the second time call your ISP for tech support. Be sure to tell the tech that you are using Outlook 2002 (XP) and that you did a test connection which identified certain areas where you aren't able to use your e-mail (Those are the areas that didn't get a green checkmark). Have any errors you recieved while testing written down.

If you successfully tested your account settings then click the "Close" button. In the prior window, click the "Next" button and then click the "Finish" button in the final window. You're ready to e-mail your friends.

Checking Account Settings

  5. Click the "Next" button.
  6. Select the Account which you need to configure.
  7. Click the "Change" button.
  8. Provide user information.
    • The "Your Name" box is for the name you want to show up on your email (it can be anything you want.)
    • For E-mail Address enter your full email address (example: myname@mycompany.com)
  9. Provide server information. For both Incoming and Outgoing mailservers, enter mail.acuitymarketing.com
  10. Check the log in information.
